Не могу сказать того же о единственной биографии Маргариты, которую мне удалось разыскать — работе Жерара Сивери (GerardSivery).Она именуется «интерпретацией» — с таким термином я прежде не сталкивалась, но, судя по книге, он означает побольше предположений, поменьше исследований. Жизнь Маргариты заслуживает намного более глубокого и конкретного исследования. Биографий Санчи или Беатрис Прованской не существует ни на каких языках.

Биографии мужей всех сестер многочисленны, но сильно различаются по качеству. Самый содержательный (и трогательный) рассказ о жизни Генриха III содержится в двухтомном труде

знаменитого историка из Оксфорда Ф. М. Поуика (Powicke): «King Henry III and the Lord Edward: The Community of the Realm in the Thirteenth Century»[ «Король Генрих III и лорд Эдуард: объединение государства в XIII веке»]. (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1947). Точно так же детальное и объективное жизнеописание Людовика IX содержится в книге: Saint Louis: Crusader King of Franceby Jean Richard. [Жан Ришар, «Людовик Святой: крестоносный король Франции»]. Существующие биографии Ричарда Корнуэлльского (Н. Денхольм-Янг) и Карла Анжуйского (Жан Денбабен) адекватны, но и только, еще есть место для более детализированного и глубокого исследования этих двух личностей.

И наконец, я должна рекомендовать изданную в 1974 году книгу Юджина Д. Кокса: Eugene L. Сох The Eagles of Savoya: The House of Savoya in Thirteenth-Century Europe[ «Савойские орлы: Савойский дом в Европе тринадцатого столетия»] как работу несравненного ученого. Автор исследовал жизнь всех савойских дядьев четырех сестер, а также их матери, Беатрис Савойской, и деда с бабушкой, Томаса и Маргариты Савойских. Тщательная и объемная работа пролила свет на многие факты, ранее никем не замеченные и важные.
